As enthusiasts of this wonderful game know well that the importance of choosing the right location for hosting tournaments cannot be underestimated. This is why we, the organizers, have chosen Bucharest—a city that beautifully blends the romance reminiscent of Belle Époque and interwar Paris with the modern buildings of a financial hub. Renowned Romanian hospitality shines through in the restaurants, bars, cafés, and clubs of the Old Town, near landmarks such as the Curtea Veche with its Medieval Palace, the famous Macca-Villacrosse Passage, Manuc’s Inn, La Mahala-Covaci, and Fire Club—the headquarters for football and rugby fans. These and many other locations each offer their own unique atmosphere and attractions.

 • Venue

The 17th European Small Federations Games (the “Championship”) is to be played under the auspices of the European Bridge League (the “EBL”) in the Caro Hotel, 164 A Barbu Vacarescu Blvd, 020285 Bucharest, Romania, commencing on Sunday, 11th of May 2025 and ending on Tuesday, 13th of May 2025. 

The Championship will be governed by the Laws of Duplicate Bridge 2017, the EBL General Conditions of Contest (“the GCoC”, as published on the EBL website) and these Supplementary Conditions of Contest (“the SCoC”). Unless otherwise stated, or illogical in context, the definitions used in the GCoC apply also to these SCoC.

 • Accommodation

Caro Hotel is more than just a 4* hotel. It is situated amidst nature, surrounded by a park with direct access to Lake Tei, and at the same time, located in the main business area of Bucharest. It is a place where the blue of the lake, the green of the garden, and the red of the bricks create a vibrant setting for family dinners, conferences, weddings, cultural events backdrop. 

For more than a week it is ready to show its hospitality to participants of the two top international bridge events in Romania in 2025. 

Special rates arranged for participants at the Caro Hotel are: 

- 80 € /night with breakfast DOUBLE STANDARD
- 100 € /night with breakfast DOUBLE PREMIUM
- 70 € /night with breakfast SINGLE STANDARD
- 90 € /night with breakfast SINGLE PREMIUM

 • Transport

Romania’s largest airport, Henri Coanda International (Otopeni), is located just 15 kilometers from Hotel Caro, ensuring easy access for all participants. 

The transfer upon arrival from the airport to Hotel Caro will be free of charge, upon request. 

Bolt and/or Uber are both available in Bucharest as alternatives for participants staying at other hotels. 

Participants arriving by car can use the hotel’s parking facilities.

The format and exact schedule will be announced once we know the number of participating teams.

 • Programme

Additionally, Romanian Bridge federation invites all participants of the European Small Federation Games to participate in the Contra Cup, a WBT team event, on May 14 to 18.

 • Entry Fees

There is no entry fee for the Small Federation Games.

 • Prizes

First 3 places in the Small Federation Games receive EBL master points and medals.

The winning NBO can send a team to the EBL Champions’ Cup in the following year.

Registration in the Small Federation Games will be done through our site. Player names should be registered latest by the 25th of April 2025 and all System Cards should be submitted latest by the 27th of April 2025 to anna@ecats.co.uk.
