 • Format

  • This event is to be played online, using the RealBridge platform (RB), under the auspices of the European Bridge League ("the EBL"), during 25th to 27th of April 2025. 
  • The event is a transnational event in the Women’s Category. 
  • The event will be governed by the Laws of Duplicate Bridge 2017 as amended on 1st January 2024 (“the Laws”), the EBL General Conditions of Contest (“the GCoC”) and relevant Ancillary Documents as published on the EBL website, the Supplementary Conditions of Contest (“the SCoC”) and the separate regulations that will be communicated in letters to the teams. 
  • Unless otherwise stated or illogical in context, the definitions used in the GCoC apply also to these SCoC.  

 • Programme

The event is expected to have 2 stages: a two-day qualification stage, with Swiss format, followed by an one-day final stage where the teams will be split into groups of 8 teams, based on the ranking in the Swiss, to play a round-robin.

Friday 25th April 2025 (qualifying Swiss day 1) 

Note: Time per round is (2 min) + (7.5 min x 10 boards). Match duration 01:17.
There will be 8 minutes at the end of each round for line-up changes, questions, rulings etc.

Round 1: 17:00 to 18:17
Round 2: 18:25 to 19:42
Round 3: 19:50 to 21:07
Round 4: 21:15 to 22:32  

Saturday 26th April 2025 (qualifying Swiss day 2) 

Round 5: 10:00 to 11:17
Round 6: 11:25 to 12:42
Round 7: 12:50 to 14:07

Break (53 minutes)

Round 8: 15:00 to 16:17
Round 9: 16:25 to 17:42
Round 10: 17:50 to 19:07  

Sunday 27th April 2025 (finals, round robin, brackets) 

Note: time per round is (2 min) + (7.5 min x 8 boards). Match duration 01:02.
There will be 8 minutes at the end of each round for line-up changes, questions, rulings etc. 

The teams will be split into 6 groups of 8 - the top 8 teams will be in the A Final, the next 8 in the B Final, etc. In each group, the carryovers will be based on your qualifying position within the group: 1st: 7 VPs, 2nd: 6 VPs, 3rd: 5 VPS, 4th: 4 VPS, 5th: 3 VPS, 6th: 2 VPS, 7th: 1 VP, 8th: 0 VP For the lowest two groups, the exact details may change.

 • Tournament Directors

EBL registered TDs will operate both at the “tables” within the RealBridge platform and in a separate virtual area for consultation and any polling that may be required.

 • Spectators/Kibitzers

No persons other than the active players, TDs and the technical teams will be allowed in the playing area.

Spectators, including any team members not currently playing, may follow the play on the delayed kibitzing facility provided by RealBridge, https://kibitz.realbridge.online.

Attention is drawn to the Competitor's Commitment Form that must be signed by each participant (and substitutes, in case of need). Details and a copy of the form can be found in the links above. The forms should be sent to the EBL secretariat,  secretariat@europeanbridge.org.

 • Entries - Registration

  • Entries should be submitted electronically via the EBL Website (not by e-mail) at the latest by 18th April 2025
  • Each captain must ensure that their e-mail address and phone number are provided and they should check it regularly for information or queries from the organizers.
  • Each team must consist of a captain and female players belonging to one or multiple NBOs. 
  • Each member must be in good standing with her NBO and will also be subject to the approval of the EBL Credentials Committee and be registered in the EBL database. The team must have paid the entry fee. 
  • There is a lower age limit for this event. Players under the age of 16 on 1st January 2025 are not eligible. The team's captain can submit a well-reasoned request to the Women's Bridge Committee in order to ask for exemption. The committee can approve or reject the request, based on its discretion.  
  • Each team is entitled to have up to  8 playing members. 
  • A team may change or add members up to 9am on Tuesday 22nd April 2025, that is 3 days before the commencement of play. All such changes are subject to the approval of the Credentials Committee. 
  • Except with the permission of the Head TD or EBL Women’s Bridge Committee, any such added player must use one of the systems already filed in accordance with the SCoC.

 • Entry Fees

Event Entry Fees:

The Entry Fees are € 160 per team

The price for early birds, registering during January is € 130 per team. Payment of Entry Fees should be made at the latest by the 18th April 2025

Important Note:

The payment instructions must include, as reference, the Registration Code.

Cancellation Policy

  • Any team cancelling prior to 31st March 2025 will get a refund of 90% of the paid sum. 
  • Any team cancelling after 1st April 2025 will get a refund of 50 % of the paid sum. 
  • There will be no refund for cancellation after the event starts, or for no show without prior notification.

 • Prizes and Masterpoints

  • There will be awarded EBL Master points. 
  • The teams ranked first & second will be awarded vouchers for use in EBL's face-to-face events, in the next 2 years. The vouchers amount to €2,400 per team. 
  • Medals will be sent to the winners, provided they played at least 50% of the boards 
  • NEW! The teams ranked first and second will be invited to play in the next Champions Cup (in accordance and complying to the CoC regulations).

 • Systems

  • The EBL Systems Policy 2023 applies to this Event. 
  • The event is classified as a Category 3 event (no HUMs or Brown Sticker methods). 
  • Both members of a partnership must adopt the same methods in the auction and in their carding. 
  • The systems must be described on EBL System (Convention) Cards and Supplementary Sheets in accordance with Section 11 of the GCoC and the Regulations for the Registration and Use of Systems, and submitted as described below. (2 pages, with up to 6 supplementary sheets for extra information if needed). 
  • Systems have to be registered with the EBL no later than 18th April 2025
  • Captains should ensure that their e-mail address is provided and they should check it regularly so they are available for any queries that may arise concerning a system registered by their team. 
  • Note that VP penalties and other restrictions will be applied in accordance with the GCoC for late submission. 
  • Minor changes to systems (which may be clarifications, amendments, minor additions and/or cosmetic revisions) will be accepted up to 22 April 2025. 
  • Revisions will be published on the website with the other systems, marked as REV1 or REV2 etc., thus giving captains the opportunity to compare them with the original submission.

System submission

  • The file names must contain the full real names of the players. If all players in the team are playing the same system card, it can be name be just the team name, followed by “all players”.
  • The file name must be the partnership name. (Example: KimSmithPatJones.PDF). 
  • You may send the original Word or Excel file or a PDF created from either program. 
  • Please note that cards created in a Mac and sent as "pages" or "numbers" files are not acceptable. 
  • Each team has a dedicated folder, just for themselves. All the system cards must be placed in that folder. The captain of your team will get the details of the dedicated folder shortly after registration. 
  • A link to the website with all approved system cards will be sent to the participants.
