The 22nd European Open Champions’ Cup ("the Open Championship") and the 2nd Women Champions’ Cup (“the Women Championship”) are to be played under the auspices of the European Bridge League ("the EBL") in the Boario Centro Congressi, (Via Romolo Galassi 30) 25047 Darfo Boario Terme, Italy commencing on Thursday 14th November 2024 and ending on Saturday 16th November 2024.
The Championship format is the following:
In the Qualifying Stage, the 12 participating teams in the Open Championship play a complete round robin consisting of 11 rounds of 10 boards each. The 10 participating teams in the Women Championship play a complete round robin consisting of 9 rounds of 10 boards each.
In the Semifinal Stage, the Open teams will be divided into 3 groups according to their ranking at the end of the round robin. In each group there are two matches. Group A consists of teams ranked 1- 4. The 1st ranked team chooses its opponent from teams ranked 3 and 4. Group B consists of teams ranked 5-8. The 5th ranked team chooses its opponent from teams ranked 7 and 8. Group C consists of teams ranked 9-12. The 9th ranked team chooses its opponent from teams ranked 11 and 12. Each match will be played in two 16 board stanzas.
The Women teams will be divided into 3 groups according to their ranking at the end of the round robin. Group A consists of teams ranked 1-4. The 1st ranked team chooses its opponent from teams ranked 3 and 4. In this group, there are two matches. Group B consists of teams ranked 5-8. The 5th ranked team chooses its opponent from teams ranked 7 and 8. Each match will be played in two 16 board stanzas. Teams ranked 9-10 constitute a separate group, which will only play two sessions of Final.
In the Final Stage, each match consists of two 16 board stanzas. The two winners in each group will play each other, and the two losers in each group meet. This allows a complete ranking from 1 to 12 in the Open Championship and a complete ranking from 1 to 10 in the Women Championship.

• Entries - Registration
Eligible teams need to confirm their participation by the 5th September 2024. Systems must be submitted until 31st October 2024.
• Prizes
1st Team - EBL Gold Medal - Trophy
2nd Team - EBL Silver Medal
3rd Team - EBL Bronze Medal
The winning team will receive the Trophy and the title of European Champion Club as well as the right to participate in the next edition.
Master Points will be awarded in accordance with the EBL Master Points scheme, provided that the player has played at least half of the boards played by his team in the round robin stage and at least half the boards played by his team in the last KO match won by his team.
