In the European Open and Women Teams Championships to be held in Tenerife in June 2001 all teams will be requested to adopt the following dress code.

General Policy

Teams will endeavour to look smart at all times. Each team will wear a uniform which will be co-ordinated in colour and design, and incorporate a visible logo to indicate the team's country. It applies to all team members, the team captain and coach.

Formal Dress

On formal occasions the uniform will consist of national dress or conventional smart dress, e.g. blazer and tie.

During Play

Tee shirts, polo shirts, shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and cardigans will be worn, whilst shorts and sandals will not.

Publicity

Uniforms may contain small and discreet logos of sponsors.

This dress code will be obligatory as of January 1st 2002 for all Open and Women Teams Championships.

N.B. In Bali, October 2001, the World Bridge Federation's dress code will be obligatory for the teams playing in the World Championships (Bermuda Bowl and Venice Cup) as per the WBF Conditions of Contest:

"NBO's are asked to take note of the recognition of Bridge as a Sport by the IOC and requests that players should, at all times, be dressed appropriately; this is particularly the case at the Opening Ceremony, when it is hoped that teams would at least be uniformly dressed even if a team uniform is not available. During play appropriate dress would , for example, be an open-necked shirt, or a smart polo or sweatshirt worn with trousers or skirt as appropriate."
