he Championships will
start with the Opening Ceremony on the evening of Saturday 12 June 1999
and will be concluded with the Prize Giving and Victory Banquet
after play on Saturday 26 June.
The Ladies Pairs championship, which starts on Sunday 13
June, is open to all National Ladies Pairs. It includes three qualifying
sessions and two final/consolation sessions played over three days. The final
will be played with screens and there will be a carry-forward score for pairs
qualifying for the final.
Play in the Open Teams championship will start on Sunday 13
June. The format is a simple Round Robin where each team will play against
every other team.
The Ladies Teams championship is also a Round Robin and
it will start after the conclusion of the Ladies Pairs championship on
Wednesday 16 June.
The Senior Teams will be played 17-25 June, also as a
Round Robin. All players must be 55 years of age at the start of the
Championship (born on or before 17th June 1944). Up to two national teams per
country may participate. Small NBO's, who have difficulty raising a full team,
will be permitted to form transnational teams, subject to the approval in
advance of the EBL Senior' Committee.
