| Playing in the Senior Teams against Great Britain 3 we were outbid and outplayed on all the hands. This was especially true at our table where we were playing against last year's World Champions Boris Schapiro and Irving Gordon. We were reluctant to enter partscore competitions and missed doubling some overbid hands. We scored our only points on board number fourteen.
Two Diamonds was game forcing and Two hearts was a negative. After the slam was one down (Only One? Editors) this conversation took place between the great champions. Gordon: 'Why did you bid Four Clubs?' Schapiro 'You bid hearts and clubs, I gave you back clubs'. Gordon 'Oh you forgot the convention again. Don't forget after Three Diamonds you bid 3NT if you don't have another four-card suit'. |
