While Russia continued to lead
the Open series, Wednesday, nervous reshuflings took
place in the qualifying positions behind them.
The day started with Greece losing
to Spain and dropping to fifth place, as Poland and Italy
remained in the medal positions and France took advantage
to become fourth.
In the middle round, Italy smashed
The Netherlands and climbed to second place, as Poland lost
to Romania. Greece scored maximum points against Sweden
to overtake France who were helplessly watching from the
bye stand.
Thanks to yet another good result in
the last round, Italy remained second. Poland
also retained its (third) place despite losing to Romania,
but Greece dropped fifth as the result of their defeat
by Israel. This time, it was Norway who came back
to a qualifying position scoring maximum against the Czech
Republic.
In the Ladies Series, the sensational
news of the day were the ruthless encounter between England
and Austria, the two leaders. England was the clear
winner (25-5), and thus took off in the general classification.
They are now a full match ahead of runners-up The Netherlands.
Austria is third, a mere VP behind the runners-up,
while the two other qualifying positions are occupied by
France and Israel. However, nothing is over
yet, as four more teams, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Czech
Repulik, are all capable of a place among the top five.
In the Seniors Series, France
2 continued to lead the race having built a handy advanrtage
of over 20 points from runner-up Poland. Sweden
follows at a distance behind, but The Netherlands, Italy
2 and France 1 are very close and can catch up at any time.
