EUROPEAN WOMEN'S BRIDGE FESTIVAL RICCIONE, ITALY • 26 September - 1 October 2006 |
The European Women's Bridge Festival, was held in the prestigious 'Pala Terme' of Riccione, Italy, a 'green pearl' of the Adriatic coast. Anna Maria Torlontano, Chairman of the EBL Women's Committee from Italy, and Committee members Sevinc Atay from Turkey and Silvia Valentini from Italy, attended the event. Some words from Anna Maria about the 'spirit' and the success of the event, even if the number of the players was not so big as expected, despite advertising the event all over the World. Anyone who has not participated in the Festival/Jamboreè, cannot understand what it means. The motto: 'Bridge for Peace' seems to have been created for this event! It is exactly the real spirit of the Festival: tolerance, friendship, understanding, willingness to be together with people coming from different countries, socialize with them, playing serious Bridge in a very friendly atmosphere. The program was well thought of and excellently implemented: serious Bridge tournaments and high-level tourism. The focal point was reached during the last evening, after the Prize-Giving, at the Gala Dinner, held in a fantastic restaurant in Verucchio. Excellent food.... and wine, laughter, singing, toasts, exchange of addresses, promises to meet again each other, kisses and the usual phrase......'Where is the next one?' The EBL Women Committee wishes to thank all participants for coming over; Maria Teresa Lavazza for the wonderful gifts; the Directors Maurizio and Alessandro; Bruno and Elena, very kind and efficient people from Riccione who offered European Women the opportunity of spending 5 pleasant days in a very special atmosphere!
