Gold for Norway and Germany

NORWAY, represented by Boye Brogeland, Thomas Charlsen, Espen Erichsen, Christer Kristoffersen, Bjørn Morten Mathisen and Øyvind Saur with npc Espen Kvam and Coach Sten Bjertnes clinched the 15th European Junior Championship. They finished in fine style when they won their last match against Belgium 25-3. This is their third European Junior title, their previous wins coming in 1980 and 1990 - so they are ahead of schedule as their next win wasn't due till 2000! Second placed Russia were represented by Arseni Chour, Dimitri Lobov, Jouri Khiouppenen, Jouri Khokhlov, Alexandre Petrounine and Boris Sazonov; npc Sergei Kustarov . The third placed team is Denmark: Freddi Brøndum, Lars Lund Madsen, Morten Lund Madsen, Jacob Røn, npc Tom Nørgaard.

Germany win 2nd Schools Championship

The GERMAN Schools team which has led throughout the Championship duly won the Gold medal with a score of 255 VPs. The winners are: Raoul Balschun, Matthias Felmy, Daniela Kehl, Julius Linde, Martin Moeller, Matthias Schueller, npc Roland Rohowsky and Assistant npc Michael Gromöller. The Silver Medallists are Israel, with 229 VPs: Shiri Faur, Yochai Guisky, Asa Levinger, Nadav Ron, Ran Schneider, Yaniv Wax and npc Micha Amit. The Bronze Medal winners, with 224 VPs are Great Britain: Graham Hazel, Alex Hydes, Mark Teltscher, Abbey Walker, npc Richard Fleet and Coach Andrew McIntosh.
