Danish slip up
allows Norway to retain the lead

Denmark's surprising 14-16 loss to the Czech Republic allowed Norway to hold on to the top spot in the Junior Championship. They lead with 309 Victory Points, against Denmark's 300. As a result of scoring two 25 VP maximums, Russia now occupy the all important third spot, with a total of 282.5. Israel have dropped to fourth with a total of 272, 11 ahead of Sweden who are on 261. Poland had a bad day and with 251.5 are more than a match away from the critical third place. Iceland, who come next, missed a chance to move up when they lost their evening match on vugraph to the Netherlands.

Germany Stay on Top

Although they were not in the commanding form they showed on Tuesday, Germany extended their winning sequence in the Schools Championship to five with narrow victories over France and Poland, the latter being against one of their closest rivals. They have scored 103 VPs and lead second placed Israel by 16 VPs. Poland are third, just two points further away on 85VPs. They are only one ahead of France and only a handful of points separate the next five teams.
