Laws of bridge (4)
In 1987 we changed the laws for Europe making it an
infraction (with a severe penalty) to ask partner (defender) about
a possible revoke. 'No spades partner?' was not allowed anymore.
They tried the same in the ACBL but the opposition by the players
there was such that this law was not changed there. Up till today
a defender in zone 2 (Northern America) is allowed to ask partner
whether he can follow suit. Since our aim is to have the same laws
all over the world this is not a preferable situation.
So my question is: should we change our approach in
Europe, should we try to convince the ACBL to change theirs or should
we meet each other somewhere in between, making it a severe infraction
to have the question meant more than just a warning not to revoke?
